5 Simple Ways to Detox And Renew Your Body

Hey there friends! It’s a new year and the perfect time to cleanse, detox, reset, and refresh your body + mind! I didn’t set any regular goals this year- no new year’s resolution that ends up forgotten and dusty- instead I remembered all the beautiful things that God did, and got excited about the NEW things He is doing this year. I did write down some things I looked forward to, some dreams and hopes and ways to grow (and a pretty daring bucket list). My main new years resolution: draw closer and more in love with Jesus. He will grow you and give to you the desires of your heart when you seek Him first!

Something I love doing at the beginning of every new year though, is doing a mini cleanse and reset for my body, to give it some love + detoxing for all the work that it does for me! I try to carry this throughout the whole year as well, doing mini detoxes throughout the year to continue to refresh my body, and also making a habit of eating life giving foods and drinking lots of H2o. When you make it a way of life, and not a new years resolution, it is much more beneficial and enjoyable!

If you’re wanting to join me in that this year, here are some simple and easy ways/tips to detox your body every day and feel refreshed!

1. Drink warm lemon + cinnamon water in the mornings

This is a really good way to start the day, as it cleanses and preps your digestion. It can help burn unhealthy fat as well which is a nice plus!

  1. 1 tbs lemon juice
  2. 1 tbs ACV
  3. 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  4. 1 tbs raw honey (optional)

Mix with hot water and enjoy early in the morning (or before you eat/drink anything else).

2. Drink lots of water

This is something we hear allll the time, but it shouldn’t be brushed aside. Drinking half of your body weight in ounces is a good rule of thumb. I have a big water bottle that I make sure is always full, and I carry it around with me everywhere. This is helpful because every time I’m thirsty, my water is right there. Also I’ve found that using a straw makes you drink so much more water than just chugging- you can just sip the day away and eventually go through lots of water bottles!

Water cleanses, hydrates from the inside out, get things movin along, and helps with just about every thing you could think of. Water is truly life giving, so drink it!

To help myself get enough water in, I try to drink 24-36 oz before lunch, then another 24-36 oz before dinner and then another 24-36 oz after dinner. Sometimes I end up drinking less or more, but just try your best, and I promise your body will feel so much better after a while!

3. Workout a little bit everyday

If this one made you feel guilty, don’t let it! Working out does not have to be going to the gym and being a bodybuilder for 2 hours every day for the rest of your life. I mean some people may like that but probably not most. Working out has so much more to do than just physical appearance – it helps with your energy, emotions, mental flow, PLUS you feel kinda badass when you see and most importantly feel all those muscles growing stronger!

Lately I had not been feeling motivated to lift weights and be intense- so I decided to do 15-30 minutes of Pilates everyday and oh my goodness I feel SO good! I’m not exhausted and running out of time afterward, and instead I feel super energetic, strong, and happy. Pilates is not at all easy or wimpy, but it really does work you in the best of ways. Your body will feel so good and strong if you purpose to move it everyday, so start small and do the work- you’ll most definitely enjoy the benefits!

4. Eat high fiber + nourishing foods

Keeping well balanced and health conscious meals + snacks will benefit and cleanse your body daily! I don’t mean eating tiny little salads and sweetening things with splenda. I mean eating real, nourishing, life giving foods. I’ve talked about this quite a bit, but it’s just so important that you are actually feeding your body with fiber, omegas, healthy fatty acids, minerals, and SO much more. God has given us such amazing foods that fuel our bodies, and we should definitely take advantage of them!

5. Mini Detox

This is a great way to reset your digestion, cravings, and appetite. Cleanse and refresh your body in three days by eating nourishing + clean (but still the recipes are so good!) foods and drinking lots of water. I love doing this mini cleanse every now and then and I always feel so good afterward! It helps you to focus on foods that actually feed and satisfy your body and you won’t be craving so much afterward.
