Hey there friend! It is yet another beautiful week full of promise and purpose! I want to encourage you today with some things I’ve been doing + experiencing in my spiritual life lately.
I started a 21 day Daniel fast ( this article on what the Daniel fast is also has guidelines on what to eat/what not to eat. I am not following this, I just wanted to link to a resource for you to know what the Daniel fast is) on the first of the month for revival of hearts and restoration of the land (Joel 2:12). Also for increased faith and closeness in my walk with God. The day of starting the fast, this bible verse popped up in my notifications: “Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.”. Seeing this verse was definitely a confirmation to fast. I was so awed by seeing this that I continued to read the whole chapter and was totally blown away.
Return to the Lord, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.
Joel 2:13
I encourage you to read this entire chapter because it is so good, powerful, and lines up so much with what this world is experiencing right now.
This is what I’ve decided to do for the fast:
- Not eating any delicacies – anything sweet or that I would consider a treat
- No dairy (which I should be doing anyway haha)
- Limited meat
- Fasting one meal a day
- Not wearing any jewelry
- Limited social media
I’m going to focus on Jesus being the sweetness of my life. Jesus being the bread of life. Jesus being the fullness of my heart. Jesus being the beauty that I reflect.
I am so excited about what the Lord is going to do during or after these 21 days in my life, and the lives of others! If you want to join me in this, I would be more than happy to have other prayer warriors by my side.
Along with that, here are a couple quote/screen savers that I made recently to encourage you in your walk with the Lord! (The last one is for a computer screen.)

I hope that this encouraged and inspired you today! Have you ever done the Daniel fast? Will you be starting it with me? Let me know your thoughts + questions in the comments below!

Ooooh, I LOVE this idea and I definitely want to take part in doing it ;)!!!!! (Hehe, it’s like a mini lent). Do you choose to eliminate things for the fast or is there a requirement of things you need to fast?

Hi Lucy, I’m so glad that you want to join me in it as well! There are strict guidelines that you could look up if you want to, but my family and I are loosely doing what Daniel 10:2-3 says: no meat, alcohol, and nothing sweet (except fruit). I’m also doing no dairy. It is really between you and the Lord what certain things to sacrifice and fast for. I encourage you to pray about it! I hope that this answers your question and thanks for commenting 😊
