Happy 2020!!! It’s so crazy that another year has passed, but I’m so excited for the experiences, memories, trials, hardships, and growth that will come this year.
My word for this year is GROW! Grow in my relationship with God, family, and friends, grow in my tech/blog skills, grow in my knowledge of beauty/health things, and grow through trials and hardships, and much more. “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” – 2 Peter 3:18. Grow in grace. Grow in knowledge. Grow in Jesus. Grow in truth. I LOVE this bible verse! It’s what I’m going to do this year- what I’m going to begin this year and continue throughout my whole life. Always growing.
Why is it so important to grow? Well, think of a plant. The plant either grows and thrives, stays stagnant and stunted in growth, or, it dies. How do we grow? Not letting our trials, hardships, and pain defeat or define us, but instead teach us, so that we come out of it as gold. I love how the New Living Translation says it: “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing”.
So for Christmas, I got two small plants, and I want to watch them grow. Even Jesus used an example of seeds and plants, comparing them to our spiritual life ( Matthew 13 ). And hopefully I can keep my plants alive and growing ;).

I’m also doing a really amazing bible study called “I Do Hard Things” by Havilah Cunnington that is honestly kind of life changing. Although it started January 1st, you can start it anytime for free. It’s a 15 day bible study that includes watching short little videos every day and doing a bit of homework. Honestly, this is the best bible study I’ve ever done, and it’s even better if you do it with others along side you. The girls in my family made a Marco Polo group chat for the bible study where we share our thoughts, feelings, and insights with each other from it. Starting off the new year with a fresh perspective and great tools for personal growth is super amazing and eye opening. I highly encourage you to check it out!
Sooo… here are some of my goals and dreams for this year:
- You guessed it, GROW! Grow in everything from my relationship with Jesus, my embroidering and hand lettering ability, photography, blogging, and more!
- Remodel my blog, start Young Living as soon as I turn 16, and do some entrepreneurial growth things.
- Travel to some national parks and hot springs + go on a mission trip
- Remodel my room + live more minimalistically.
- Live more purposefully + intentionally
This winter in Northern Idaho has kinda been a funny one. It felt like spring up until early January because it would snow then rain, then freeze, then do it all over again and it was just kinda… bleh. Then a couple days ago, a winter snow storm came in and changed the landscape completely. WE have about 3-4 feet of snow if not more – it’s pretty crazy, but totally beautiful.
I love every season for its uniqueness and beauty in that time. A lot like our lives and the different seasons we go through. It can seem like a dark cold time, but then we are able to see the beauty in the storm and let it grow us. Anyways, we made a really big sledding hill in our driveway from all the piled up snow and we’ve been playing on it a lot. The whole town is transformed with the beauty of winter, and though it came a little late, it was so worth the wait!
I have lots of blog post ideas, challenges, recipes, and more going to come out soon! It’s going to be awesome and lots of fun. The blog is also going to hopefully get a remodel this year so that it’s more professional, aesthetically pleasing to my growing taste, and become a lot easier and simpler for you to enjoy and navigate!
Even though we’re halfway through January ( already ), it’s never too late to set goals, ambitions, and dreams for yourself! Last year I created some year review and new years dream and goal sheets that I hand lettered, so I’m including them out the end of this post so that you can print them out and make some plans and aspirations for this year!
And last but not least, tell me in the comments if you would like to see a specific blog post, have me try something out, do a tutorial, etc.. I love your input and suggestions, and I want to create content that you enjoy and benefit from!
Have a great new year!!
